Christmas Outreach in Botolan x Sidetrip in Magalawa Island, Palauig, Zambales  Saturday, February 27, 2016

We were in Botolan, Zambales a week before Christmas last year with the club we are part of for our regular outreach program. It was a gift-giving program for our Aeta Community. And every after the said outreach, the team would go somewhere to relax and to get to know each other, frequently in a beach nearby. This time, we went to one of the islands in Palauig, Zambales, Malagawa Island.

It was a long drive from Botolan to Palauig then a boat ride to Armada Resort in Magalawa, but who cares when you know that there is a beautiful island waiting for you.

Apparently we arrived an hour and a half early for the sunset. After setting up our tents and having a short break eating bananaque prepared by the staff of the resort, Mel and I explored the island to catch the sunset.

Sunset at the beach is always so stunning. Mel and I always take a moment to savor memories of sunsets in every travels we do. Before going back to the camp site, I made a mental note to return at dawn the following day.

In the morning, we went walking on the beach, strolling the boardwalk alongside Magalawa, waiting to catch the first rays of dawn. And when the sun finally showe up,  it climbed into the sky and pushed through the clouds to display a magnificent sunrise. I couldn't say more, it was so  beautiful.

We left the island in the afternoon, a motorboat good for 20 people carried us into the mainland. I always wonder why leaving a destination always carry a keen sense of sadness when all you had while in there was fun. I just thought, maybe that’s a beautiful thing about connecting with nature. I came back home the same way I always am, inspired, eager to meet more people and excited to see other different places.

Below is the home video I did on how the outreach went.

  2. I love your new theeeeeme! It's highly optimized for hi-res photos which is what your blog deserves. I'm just having trouble viewing the header 'cause it's almost the same color as the background. but everything else looks great! :)
